The Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF), in collaboration with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (DST), is embarking upon a potentially highly impactful educational endeavor, which aims to enhance student academic achievement by focusing on improving teacher effectiveness. The Delta Teacher Efficacy Campaign emanates from the Foundation and the Sorority’s joint commitment to ensuring that all students are educated in a manner that prepares them to enter and excel in college, and, ultimately, create a thriving life and career for themselves.
DREF has received a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to support The Delta Teacher Efficacy Campaign which will focus on addressing the needs of the teachers. Montgomery, Alabama was one of two cities in the State of Alabama chosen as an award recipient. As such, a collaboration project to host an inaugural town hall session will be held regarding Teacher Efficacy on August 22, 2015 on the campus of Alabama State University. Five organizations have partnered to make this program a success: Fortitude Foundation, the Regional In-Service Center at Alabama State University, Montgomery Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Phases, Inc., and Saving Kids of Incarcerated Parents (SKIP).
